Free State Project members sign a pledge to move to New Hampshire and work to change the way of life in our state. They do not move here for a job, or for family, or even because they like what New Hampshire has to offer. Instead, they move here because a political group they are affiliated with voted on a state to move to in order to enact a political agenda, and New Hampshire was the unlucky recipient of that vote.
Manchester Ward 11 Selectman Candidate Alexander Avery
Manchester Ward 11 Selectman Candidate Alexander Avery moved to New Hampshire as part of the Free State Project in 2016. Avery has demonstrated considerable ties to the Free State Project, including:
Avery lived in a Free State Project-run apartment when he first moved to Manchester. When he first moved to Manchester, Avery lived in an apartment managed by Ledgeview Commercial Partners, LLC, a real estate and property management company run by Free Stater Matthew Ping, a former State House candidate. Ping manages several Free Stater owned and/or occupied properties in Manchester. The Free State Project has a network of real estate agents and properties to help new movers with short-term or long-term housing.
Avery attended PorcFest 2016. Avery attended the NH Porcupine Freedom Festival, an annual multi-day outdoor event hosted by the Free State Project to recruit, train, and network Free State Project members. (PorcFest 2016, Alex Avery, accessed 8/29/2017)
Avery’s social media profiles show considerable involvement with Free State Project-linked groups and activities. Avery’s Facebook groups membership indicate considerable involvement with the Free State Project. Avery is a member of several groups for “porcupines”, a name for Free State project members who have moved to New Hampshire; Porcupine Pink Pistols (a LGBT gun club), PORC (porcupine outdoor recreation club), Porc Yoga, Porcupine Clothing Swap, and Poly Porcupines. Avery also belongs to the School Sucks Project page, a Free State Project-linked group that organizes to discourage school attendance.
Why is Alexander Avery’s FSP Affiliation Important?
The ultra-extreme Free State Project voted on a state to move 20,000 people to, with the stated purpose to take over state government and dismantle it. The Free State Project seeks to create a libertarian “utopia” void of public infrastructure and common laws, and to use the power of numbers to dramatically change New Hampshire – even threatening secession from the rest of the country. Members like Alexander Avery are actively working to help the Free State Project fulfill those goals.
“Once we’ve taken over the state government, we can slash state and local budgets, which make up a sizeable proportion of the tax and regulatory burden we face every day. Furthermore, we can eliminate substantial federal interference by refusing to take highway funds and the strings attached to them. Once we’ve accomplished these things, we can bargain with the national government over reducing the role of the national government in our state. We can use the threat of secession as leverage to do this.” [Announcement: The Free State Project by Founder Jason Sorens]
